Guardiola divorces wife of 30 years

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, and his wife, Cristina Serra, have decided to separate after 30 years together.

The couple, who first met in 1994 and married in 2014 near Barcelona, have reportedly grown apart, particularly due to Guardiola's managerial commitments in various countries over the past five years.

They have three children together: Maria, 24, Marius, 22, and Valentina, 17. Serra, a Brazilian journalist, has been residing in Barcelona with their youngest daughter, Valentina, while Guardiola remains in Manchester. The family spent Christmas together despite the separation.

The decision to divorce was made in December, with only close friends and family initially informed. Those close to the couple have been asked to respect their privacy regarding the matter.

Serra moved out of Manchester in 2019 to focus on a career in fashion with her family's company, Serra Claret.

Amid speculation about his future at Manchester City, Guardiola signed a new two-year contract with the Premier League champions in November, committing to the club until 2027.

Guardiola will aim to keep his focus on football this week as City face Brentford. They currently sit sixth in the Premier League table.
