China has set its sights on attracting Bangladeshi travellers to its burgeoning medical tourism sector ranging from high-quality medical services to traditional Chinese medicine therapies.

This was highlighted during the "Nihao! China"- China Medical Tourism Promotion Conference, held in the capital last week, marked a step forward in promoting China's medical tourism offerings and fostering closer ties between the two countries.

The event, hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh and organised by the Bangladesh Belt and Road Chinese Language and Culture Center, drew over 200 attendees.

The initiative underscored the potential for collaboration between the two nations in medical tourism and cultural exchanges, said the Chinese Embassy today (4 January).

During the conference, healthcare professionals and travel experts from both countries shared insights into the medical tourism experience in China.

They outlined various travel packages, including health check-up tours, wellness retreats, and traditional Chinese medicine experiences available through entry points like Beijing, Guangzhou, and Kunming.

Officials noted that the timing aligns perfectly with the upcoming 50th anniversary of China-Bangladesh diplomatic relations in 2025, designated as the Year of People-to-People Exchanges.

Many attendees expressed enthusiasm for leveraging this milestone to enhance bilateral cooperation in economic and cultural spheres, with medical tourism as a key focus.

Participants included officials from Bangladesh's Ministry of Social Welfare and Directorate General of Health Services, along with representatives from travel agencies, airlines, hospitals, universities, media, and civil organisations from the both nations.
