A Russian woman working at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project in Ishwardi reportedly killed herself in the early hours today (4 January) after jumping from the fourth floor of a residential building in Green City.

The deceased, identified as Poshtaruk Ksenii, was an employee of SMU-1, a company involved in the power plant's construction.

Police said the incident took place around 4am in flat 42 of building 9, part of the Green City residential complex for project staff.

A doctor on duty in Green City declared her dead at the scene shortly after the incident, according to the police.

Meanwhile, Pabna's Additional Superintendent of Police Biplob Kumar Goswami and Officer-In-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam of Ishwardi Police Station visited the spot.

OC Shahidul Islam said initial findings indicate that the incident might have stemmed from a quarrel between Ksenii and her husband.

He said security personnel from Green City have taken her husband for questioning to assist with the investigation.

The body has been sent to Pabna General Hospital for an autopsy, the OC added.
