Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University celebrates Victory Day

Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) observed the Great Victory Day with colourful events.

The day's proceedings commenced at 6:30 AM on Monday, December 16, 2024, with the national flag hoisting in front of the Academic Building adjacent to the Central Shaheed Minar.

The Vice-Chancellor of SAU, Professor Dr Abdul Latif, hoisted the national flag, while the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Belal Hossain, raised the university flag. This was followed by special prayers seeking forgiveness for the martyrs' departed souls.

Subsequently, led by the Vice-Chancellor, faculty members, officers, staff, and students paid their respects by placing floral wreaths at the National Memorial. Among those present were the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Belal Hossain; Treasurer, Professor Muhammad Abul Bashar; Director of Planning, Development, and Works, Professor Dr  Sharoar Hossain; Director of ICT Cell, Professor Dr. Md. Jamilur Rahman; Director of Student Counseling and Guidance, Professor Dr Ashabul Haque; Proctor, Professor Dr Arfan Ali; Assistant Proctor, Professor Md. Akhtar Hossain; Provost of Kazi Nazrul Islam Hall, Professor Dr Mahbub Islam; Provost of Sher-e-Bangla Hall, Professor Md. Abdul Latif; Registrar, Sheikh Rezaual Karim; departmental chairmen, teachers, officers, staff, and students.

Furthermore, a painting competition was held at the Student-Teacher Centre to commemorate Victory Day at 9:30 AM. Children of teachers, officers, and staff working at SAU participated in three categories in the competition. At 11 AM, a sports competition was organised, followed by an award ceremony for the winners of various competitions. The sports events included volleyball, pillow passing, balance race, cockfighting, and running races.

In honour of the day, high-quality food was arranged at the university's residential halls in the evening.
