Hasnat Abdullah, convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has demanded reducing application fees and introduction of cluster-based tests for all public university admissions.

In a verified Facebook post today (14 December), he wrote, "Education is everyone's right, not a commodity! Application fees worth thousands of taka, [along with] commute and accommodation costs — the current admission process is a terrible financial burden for students. The future of every student hangs in the balance."

Criticising the current system, he said it is "not evaluating merit, but building walls of inequality. Is higher education only for the rich?"
