Excelerate Energy empowers women in Moheshkhali with sewing training initiative

Excelerate Energy, a leading US-based LNG company, has launched a sewing training program in Moheshkhali to promote financial independence among women in the community. The initiative was inaugurated on 4 December 2024 at Ghotivanga Government Primary School, Moheshkhali.

Mr. Peter Haas, strategic adviser of Excelerate Energy, attended the ceremony as the chief guest. He was joined by Mr. Derek Wong, vice president for government relations and public affairs; Mr. Habibur Rahman Bhuiyan, country manager of Excelerate Energy Bangladesh; and Mr. K M Atiqul Islam, director finance of Excelerate Energy Bangladesh.

The program aims to empower 20 women from the local community by providing essential sewing skills. These skills will enable participants to contribute to household income and achieve financial self-reliance. As part of the initiative, sewing machines were distributed among the trainees to support their entrepreneurial journeys and sustainable livelihoods.
