Labour and Employment Adviser Brigadier General (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain has emphasized that anyone involved in unrest within industrial sectors, be it workers or owners, will face strict legal action.

He made this statement during a meeting at the Dhaka North City Corporation auditorium today (1 December).

Sakhawat, also the shipping adviser, stated that the government is determined to curb criminal activities in factories and industries.

He assured that all those involved in creating instability will be brought under the purview of the law and penalized accordingly.

He also highlighted the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, the Ministry of Commerce, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Tourist Police, and other law enforcement agencies to resolve unrest in labour-intensive areas.

The meeting was attended by the advisor to the Ministry of Commerce, the administrator of BGMEA, garment industry owners, the secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, and other senior officials.
