Protesting NBR officials to hold talks with advisers, tomorrow's strike suspended
The protesters said their pen-down strike will be paused for one day due to the meeting, and further decisions on the protests will come after the discussions

Officials protesting the government's move to dissolve the National Board of Revenue (NBR) have announced the suspension of their ongoing protest programme for tomorrow (20 May).
The decision came after it was decided that several interim government advisers will hold a meeting with them tomorrow.
At a press briefing today (19 May), the protesters said their pen-down strike will be paused for one day due to the meeting, and further decisions on the protests will come after the discussions.
Deputy Commissioner of Taxes Saifur Rahman and Deputy Commissioner of Customs Imam Gazzali spoke at the briefing.
Yesterday, the protesters stated that they were not interested in meeting solely with the finance adviser unless other advisers of the interim government are also present.
Their key demands include the immediate withdrawal of the proposed Revenue Ordinance, public disclosure of the NBR Reform Advisory Committee's report and a comprehensive reform of the revenue system through meaningful consultations with stakeholders like NBR officials, business associations, civil society members and political leaders.
