Awaj Foundation is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting workers' rights and well-being in the Ready-Made Garment (RMG) sector of Bangladesh. Founded in 2003, it aims to ensure decent work, gender equity, and dignified lives for all workers. It upholds the principle that every individual is entitled to work in a professional environment free from harm, harassment, sexual abuse, bullying, humiliation, exploitation, or any form of unlawful discrimination. With 19 offices and community centres, it serves over 742,000 workers across 12 major industrial clusters in the Dhaka and Chattogram Divisions.
Position Overview:
The Project Coordinator will oversee and coordinate the successful implementation of key projects related to workers' rights, women's leadership, and community development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to drive outcomes in alignment with Awaj Foundation's mission and goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets to meet organisational goals.
- Manage grants, including budgeting, compliance, and reporting, in alignment with donor requirements.
- Lead the development of project proposals and concept notes, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and donor guidelines.
- Coordinate project teams across departments, ensuring smooth collaboration and timely task completion.
- Monitor project progress and outcomes, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Maintain communication with donors, partners, and community stakeholders.
- Prepare regular reports on project progress for senior management and funding bodies.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Support and train staff to enhance project management skills and operational efficiency.
- Travel to project sites as necessary to oversee and support on-ground activities.
- Apply knowledge in community development with strong interpersonal, team-building, and problem-solving skills.
- Employ strong negotiation and persuasion skills to encourage desired outcomes and results.
- Contribute to internal and external communications, including success stories, case studies, and promotional materials to enhance project visibility and stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Honour's/Master's Degree in Social Science or other relevant disciplines (Master's preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in project coordination, preferably in the development or NGO sector.
- Strong organisational and leadership skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Bengali.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Integrity, honesty, a strong work ethic, and commitment to the goals of the Awaj Foundation.
- Experience working in labour rights, community development, or related fields is an advantage.
