Position: Head of Program
Position Overview
The Head of Program (HoP) will lead the strategic planning, development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of all programmatic activities. The HoP is responsible for ensuring high-quality programme delivery, innovation, and alignment with the organisation's mission and donor requirements. The position requires strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and strategic direction to all programme teams
- Lead the development of programme strategies, annual plans, and budgets
- Oversee project design, proposal development, and donor reporting
- Ensure effective monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) systems are in place
- Ensure quality, accountability, and compliance with donor and organisational standards
- Build and maintain relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders
- Supervise and mentor Programme Managers, Technical Advisors, and MEL staff
- Represent the organisation in national and international forums as needed
- Lead programme-level coordination, reporting, and risk management
Required Qualifications & Competencies
- Master's degree in development studies, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or a relevant field
- Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in programme management, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role
- Proven experience in project design, proposal writing, and managing donor-funded projects (e.g., EU, USAID, UN, DFID)
- Strong understanding of rights-based and participatory approaches
- Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills
- Fluent in English and Bangla, both written and spoken
Preferred Attributes
- Experience in managing multi-sectoral and multi-donor programmes
- Strong analytical, strategic planning, and decision-making skills
- Experience with digital tools and MIS for project monitoring and reporting
- Flexible, adaptable, and culturally sensitive
Work Environment
- Based in Dhaka with occasional travel, including to field locations and events
- Must be comfortable working in a rights-based, diverse, and collaborative team environment
