Transgender shot dead after using female washroom in McDonald’s

A transgender woman was shot to death after using a female washroom of McDonald in United States Puerto Rico.

On information, police recovered the body of Neulisa Luciano Ruiz several hours, reported The Independent.

A footage uploaded on social media showed at least two men heard ridiculing and threatening a person thought to be the victim ahead of gunfire. An investigation is undergoing into the case.

"She was being called of "misgender," according to a witness.

People lamented the death of her on social media platforms with hashtags "#SeLlamabaAlexa" and "Her name was Alexa" as she was known as Alexa.

"Alexa was stalked and hunted ahead of her killing. The crime was a hate crime motivated by intolerance," Pedro Julio Serrano, an LGBT+ activist in a statement on his website said.

"Human Rights Campaign has heard that Ruiz was experiencing homelessness, further highlighting the ways a toxic mix of transphobia and misogyny conspire to put the transgender community at risk of extreme violence," said Tori Cooper, director of community engagement for the transgender justice initiative for the Human Rights Campaign, the largest LGBT+ advocacy group in the US.
