Hours before the conference, she posted a Facebook status disclosing that someone had tried to rape and murder her and sought justice from the prime minister.

Pori Moni stated that she had requested support from police stations and even the Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed in the last four days since the event, but no one came to her rescue.

She also claimed that the day after she was assaulted and threatened with murder, she went to Actors' Equity General Secretary Zayed Khan and former president of the Directors' Guild Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar to demand justice.

However, they advised her not to speak to the media about the situation and assured her that the problem would be resolved.
