TBS Picks
The Business Standard picks five artworks by Javed Jalil from the exhibition. Each of the selected artworks tells a different and intriguing story.
1. The Helpless Absurdity

The painting is about a man carrying a little boy, within a red nail spiked circle. The man and the little boy are looking at a spectator, who is seemingly not interested in them. The dark black line in the painting resembles a distant bridge of time. There are other characters in the painting, reflecting hallucination of thoughts. The artist described the painting as: strange atmospheric resonance of smoky light and dark, where real and unreal is a projection of a helpless time.
2. Caged Fear

In this painting, a man is trapped inside a heptagon frame. His body is a silhouette of yearning. He is contemplating an unseen world with his own shadow. The painter called this man "a victim and the author of a new destiny." A skeletal hand dominates the canvas and the hand represents an archaic fallen person who finds ways to coexist in the dark world. All the shapes in this painting create a network of unfathomable conspiracy, the painter said.
3. Red Exposure

The living or non-living character of the painting exposes the internal ghost. The human portrait restricted by a strange confinement witnesses the situation with the sunflower of bliss. The painting features a scene of contradictory energies, fleeting exchanges into a realm of expressive mindfulness. With its intricate anatomy, the figure grasps by a red thread.
4. Plethora of contraries

This painting depicts a pair of lovers yielding to each other's intimacy into a state of solace. Their surrounding radiates vibrations of light and darkness. The abstract painting depicts a path, orchestrated with a frame of a melancholic quintessence. "Characters from the everyday street is fathomed by uncertainty," the painter described this artwork.
5. Soaring Redemption

In the painting, a human body is surged beyond dimension. "A voluptuous gesture, a dangerous call to rise above and beyond," the artist said about this painting. The painting captures earthly melding of pleasure and pain heightened into cosmic proportions. "The entity yearns for a state of salvation within the stretch of the red momentum," the painter said.
