Bangladeshi film ‘Rehana Maryam Noor’ makes history by being officially selected for Cannes
The second movie from 'Live from Dhaka' filmmaker Abdullah Mohammad Saad, 'Rehana Maryam Noor,' is the first Bangladeshi film to be selected for the 'Un Certain Regard' section of the 74th Cannes Film Festival.
This is the first Bangladeshi film to be officially selected for the famous festival, and it was written and edited by Saad.
The late director Tareque Masud's film 'Matir Moyna' has previously been presented at the 55th Cannes Film Festival's Directors Fortnight section.

The cast of 'Rehana Maryam Noor' includes Azmeri Haque Badhon, Afia tabassum Borno, Afia Hahin Jaima, Yasir Al Haq, Kazi Sami Hossain, Saberi Alam, Abrodit Chowhdury and others.
The story revolves around a private medical college teacher Rehana, who fights for justice all alone on behalf of her 6-year-old daughter and one of her college students.
The film was co-produced by Rajib Mohajan, Sydul Haque Khandaker, and Adnan Habib. The film was shot by Tuhin Tamijul, a cinematographer. The sound design and production design were accomplished by Ali Afjal Uzzal and Sayba Talukder respectively.
Saad made his directorial debut in 2016 with Khelna Chobi's internationally renowned film 'Live from Dhaka' which received Best Actor and Best Director prizes at the Singapore International Film Festival and has been played at numerous international film festivals around the world.
Pierre Lescure and Thierry Frémaux delivered the Official Selection of the 74th Festival de Cannes on June 3 at the UGC Normandie in Paris.
The news soon spread over social media and people applauded the film's staff and cast members for their work. Many people assume that this success signaled the start of a Bangladeshi film rebirth in the near future.
