Indonesia keen to work closely with Bangladesh for greater economic cooperation

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia Anis Matta today (8 October) expressed Indonesia's interest in working closely with Bangladesh for greater economic cooperation beyond traditional business engagements.
He met State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam at her office and discussed issues of mutual interest.
Referring to the existing excellent relations between the two countries, State Minister Shama underscored the importance of deepening bilateral trade.
She urged Indonesia to import more Bangladeshi products.
She also emphasised greater cooperation among women entrepreneurs of the two countries.
In order to deepen connectivity, Vice Minister Anis Matta encouraged exploring the possibility of establishing direct flight between Dhaka and Jakarta.
He also expressed Indonesia's interest in exploring Dhaka as a potential transit hub for Indonesian passengers travelling to Saudi Arabia.
State Minister Shama called for enhanced cooperation in environment and climate change, artificial intelligence and cultural exchange.
The State Minister encouraged Indonesian students to explore education opportunities in Bangladesh, particularly in the country's medical universities.
Vice Minister Anis Matta is on an official visit to Bangladesh. He is scheduled to leave Dhaka today.
