Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and other Bimstec leaders today (4 April) observed one-minute silence recalling the victims of recent earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand, ahead of the sixth Bimstec summit.
In his speech at Bimstec summit today, Prof Yunus expressed his heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the governments and the peoples of Thailand and Myanmar in the aftermath of the recent devastating earthquake that has caused huge loss of life and property in the two countries.
He said Bangladesh stands in solidarity with brothers and sisters from Thailand and Myanmar during this difficult time.

"We also extend our heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and pray for the quick recovery of the injured," the Bangladesh chief adviser said.
"I am confident that given your strong leadership and the government's efforts, you will be able to overcome the challenges and restore normalcy in the affected areas," he added.
