Summer sips: 3 drinks to keep you hydrated

Beat the summer heat with these three refreshing drinks, packed with hydration, essential nutrients, and natural cooling properties to keep you energised all day

Bael Panna 

Replenishes lost electrolytes and prevents dehydration by restoring essential salts like potassium and magnesium. Its natural cooling properties help regulate body temperature and keep you refreshed in extreme heat.

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium-sized ripe bael fruit
     
  • 2 cups cold water
     
  • 2 tbsp jaggery or honey
     
  • ½ tsp black salt
     
  • ½ tsp roasted cumin powder
     
  • Juice of ½ a lemon
     
  • Ice cubes
     

Instructions:

Break open the bael fruit and scoop out the pulp. Add ½ cup of water to the pulp and mash well to extract the juice. Strain the mixture through a sieve to remove fibres and seeds. Add the remaining cold water, jaggery/honey, black salt, and roasted cumin powder. Stir well. Squeeze in lemon juice for extra freshness. 

Serve chilled with ice cubes and enjoy!

 

Papaya lime smoothie 

Papaya is rich in water and natural sugars, keeping the body hydrated and maintaining energy levels 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup ripe papaya, diced
     
  • 1 cup cold coconut water (or plain water)
     
  • Juice of 1 lime
     
  • 1 tbsp honey or jaggery
     
  • Ice cubes
     
  • Mint leaves
     

Instructions:

Blend papaya, coconut water, lime juice, and honey/jaggery until smooth. Add ice cubes and blend again for a chilled, creamy texture. Pour into glasses, garnish with mint leaves, and serve immediately.
 

Watermelon pineapple hydrator 

This drink is packed with 92% water from watermelon, helping to keep you hydrated, while pineapple provides vitamin C and natural sugars to boost energy and immunity. 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup watermelon, diced
     
  • ½ cup pineapple, diced
     
  • ½ cup coconut water
     
  • Juice of 1 lemon
     
  • 1 tbsp honey or jaggery
     
  • A few mint leaves for garnish
     
  • Ice cubes
     

Instructions:

Blend watermelon, pineapple, coconut water, and lemon juice until smooth. Add honey or jaggery if you prefer a sweeter taste. Pour into glasses, add ice cubes, and garnish with mint leaves for an extra refreshing touch. Serve immediately.
