Bangladeshi team arrives in Russia for astronomy olympiad

A seven-member team from Bangladesh has arrived in Sochi in Russia, to compete in the 4th Open World Astronomy Olympiad (Owao), an international competition in astronomy and space science.
The event, hosted at the Sirius Olympic Town from 20-27 September, brings together students from around the world to test their knowledge and passion for astronomy.
The Bangladeshi team, led by Moshurl Amin, chairman of the Bangladesh Astro-Olympiad National Committee, departed Dhaka on 19 September.
The student representatives are: Saptarshi Rahman (Hurd International School), Md Radit Raiyan (Adamjee Cantonment College), Shohini Shombhar Kongka (Ideal College), Md Mokhdum Amin Fahim (Police Lines Secondary School, Khulna), Md Jubayer Hossain Jisan (Rajshahi Collegiate School), and Sayantan Roy (South Herald English School & College).
Participants will face rigorous rounds that include theoretical, practical, and observational astronomy challenges designed to test their scientific understanding and analytical abilities.
Owao provides a platform for both competition and cross-cultural exchange, allowing young astronomers to collaborate and share ideas.
By joining this global gathering, the Bangladeshi students will have the opportunity to share ideas, learn new perspectives, and represent the nation's growing interest in astronomy and space science.
