A smart solution to garbage disposal

Waste turns into resource through recycling. The concept is widely recognised. For people interested in recycling there is something new and interesting. One may now use an app to sell inorganic waste materials, at their suitable time, and get paid in cash, without any argument with a vangariwala.

Garbageman, a recycling enterprise, is going to launch an app, in late November, with Monstar Lab. One has to create a profile in the app, by selecting their residential area to sell any kind of waste materials—inorganic, green or chemical.

Through their profiles, users will be able to view the pricing according to market value, select type, input amount of garbage, and can fix a schedule for garbage men to collect.

In exchange of the garbage, app users will receive money, discount offer, or coupon from certain market, super shop or restaurant, which are officially connected to Garbageman.

Fahim Uddin Shuvo, CEO & founder of Garbageman, said, "We do not want to pave our future in plastic. This industry is directly connected to environment. Still, it is not organised. Through this app, every user and supplier will be benefitted from their place."

Garbageman wants to empower the local vangariwala and put this whole process in a system as it is an industry itself. They are working for nature and not against anyone, this is what Fahim believes.

Fahim shares his idea of the app with The Business Standard and explains the supply chain elaborately.

An admin of Garbageman would get notified through the admin panel about the requests made by users. Then the admin will distribute the request to model scrap shop (S1) upgraded by Garbageman.
After that, a trash collector from the model scrap shop (S1) will go to the households and collect those household recyclables from users of the app. After the collection is done, there will be a segregation according to recyclables' type, colour and size.

At the second stage, Garbageman will collect those different recyclables from every S1 and sell them to manufacturers/recyclers. The manufacturer would make new products or raw materials and distribute those in markets.

Whereas now this supply chain is being maintained in four stages, after launching this app, it will narrow down to three stages only. Saving time, money of the manufacturers and shaping this whole system is the primary goal of Garbageman.

Users will also know how many lives they are impacting by giving those recyclables through this app.

According to Fahim, they are endlessly fighting for a better world and environment, not against any person or any community. 

To make Bangladesh's society better, Monstar Lab has decided to develop this app as a partner company with Garbageman.

"With the high economic growth, the garbage problem is getting worse. Garbageman works to solve this urban problem. Together with them, we would like to contribute to the improvement of this country from the IT sector," said S.M. Asad Rahman, chief technology officer of Monstar Lab.

Initiatives such as Garbageman, might just be the way to build a cleaner and greener Dhaka, while making it easier for the suffering city dwellers.
