Night Queen is a rare kind of flower that blooms only for a night in a year. A full bloomed Night Queen flower is an unusual sight as it wilts before dawn.
The white flowers smell like magnolia or gardenia, having a quite subtle fragrance.
Sabina Yesmin, a homemaker in Dhaka, shared her excitement, "I waited till 1am to see all the flowers bloom fully. Last year, four flowers bloomed on different nights but this year three flowers blossomed on the same night and another will appear in a few days."

When asked how she started to grow this rare flower, Sabina said, "I started because I knew it is rare. I brought one leaf from Pabna in 2002. From that, multiple plants grew. In 2007, nine flowers bloomed in three plants, four in one night and five in another night. But no flower blossomed the next year and the plants started to die gradually."
"I planted the second batch in 2012. From one leaf, more leaves grew and I planted four leaves in four pots. And they first bloomed last year," she added.
