72 killed in West Bengal due to cyclone Amphan

At least 72 people have died in West Bengal due to cyclone Amphan, said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today.
The powerful storm wrecked cities including Kolkata on Wednesday, destroying thousands of homes and uprooting trees and electric poles.
Mamata also announced a compensation of Rs 2.5 lakh to the families of those who died due to cyclone Amphan.
Earlier on Wednesday night, Mamata Banerjee the impact of cyclone Amphan was "worse than coronavirus".
"Both the North and South 24 Parganas have been battered by the cyclone. Houses, embankments, everything got destroyed. Crop fields washed away. Around 10-12 deaths have been reported so far," she said while talking to the media on Wednesday night regarding the destructions of the cyclone on India's West Bengal.
