About 20 chars along the Meghna-Tetulia, including Char Kukri Mukri, Dhal Char, Char Nizam and Kalatoli chars in Bhola, have been submerged in three to four feet water.

The water level in these areas has been rising since 12pm. Around 25,000 people have been affected by the water rising, said Deputy Commissioner Masud Alam Siddique.

So far, two lakh people have been taken to shelter, he added.
