Rabindra sangeet soiree at AFD

An evening of Rabindra Sangeet (Tagore songs) titled 'Sanjher Akash Bhorabo Gaane Gaane' by Ankhi Halder alongside elocutionist Samiul Islam Poluck was held on Friday, November 22, 2019 evening at the Auditorium Nouvelle Vague of Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD) in Dhanmondi.

Singer Ankhi Halder completed a five-year certificate course on Tagore songs at Shurer Dhara, a prestigious music school in Bangladesh and has been teaching music at the institution since 2009. Halder, a disciple of Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, one of the leading practitioners of Tagore songs in the South Asian subcontinent, has performed in reputable venues, major television channels as well as in Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, Indonesia, and India among others.

Halder rendered eight songs in the Shruti Gitabitan — a phenomenal compendium of all the 2,232 songs from Gitabitan by Rabindranath Tagore. Her first studio album was released this year titled "Toma Paney Chahi" under the label of Impress Audio Vision.

Elocutionist Samiul Islam Poluck on the other hand, is a gold medalist at Jatiyo Shikkha Shoptaho and a regular of Bangladesh Television (BTV). His velvet baritone and unique poetry presentation makes him immensely popular among audience in both home and abroad. His first solo recitation album "Iti Rabindranath" was released by Hindustan Records back in 2017.
