Hawa wraps up shooting

After almost one and half a month, the shooting of Mejbaur Rahman Sumon's "Hawa" has been completed. Not on a beach, the movie was shot in the sea. The whole shooting unit stayed in the coral island  of Saint Martin.

The shooting unit has returned to Dhaka a few days ago and shared their experiences. Actor Chanchal Chowdhury wrote on Facebook, "As an actor, this is the first time I stayed in Saint Martin's Island for continuous 40 days leaving my home, family and friends. What a relief!"

Sumon went to Saint Martin's Island with his full unit last month. In the past, he also went to the deep sea with his camera and returned with a mental sketch of future shootings. In the first five to seven days, there were rehearsals. Then the shooting finally started.

All the movies based on the lives of fishermen were shot at beaches, depicting the struggle of their lives. However, fishermen's lives in the deep sea have been not been covered much in Bangla movies. The movie "Hawa" is presenting those untold stories of the fishermen in the deep sea.

Before going to the shooting, Sumon said, "This is not the story of people who live in coastal areas. It is about the fishermen whose lives are intertwined with the sea. The story starts centring a trawler. The fishermen go to the deep sea to catch fish for 10-15 days. The movie is about their experience. The movie is a modern representation of prevalent myths about the sea in this region. You can say 'modern mythology'".

Chanchal Chowdhury, Nafiza Tushi, Shariful Raje, and Sumon Anowar are some of the major characters of the movie.

For the next six months, the crew will be busy with the production of the film, closely followed by the movie's release. It may take part in several film festivals in the future.

The cinematographer of the movie is Sa Kamrul Hasan Khasru, who was the cinematographer of "Monpura" as well. The movie is directed by Sun Music and Motion Pictures Limited.
