Chattogram Sea Port will be fully operational during Eid holidays, except for the Eid day, to keep exports and imports of goods uninterrupted, said the port authority.

It will remain closed only for eight hours on Eid day from 8:00am to 4:00pm. The associated service providers will also stay open throughout the vacation.

A notice has been issued with instructions for the stakeholders following a meeting of the port authorities with the service providers.

"We hope that all will cooperate in the port's operation during the holidays, like they did in previous years," said Chattogram Port Authority Chairman Rear Admiral M Shahjahan.

Nurul Qayyum Khan, president of Bangladesh Inland Container Depots Association, said 19 inland container deports would be in service during the time, where 15,000-20,000 permanent and temporary employees worked.

As per the notice, banks will keep open their branches located within the port for transactions relating to export and import. The booths will also be in service.

C&F agents, shipping agents, Freight Forwarders Association, private ICDs, birth operators, terminal operators, ship handling operators, Chattogtam Chambers and all other stakeholders of the port were asked to continue their regular activities.

Kazi Mohammad Nurul Azam, manager of Sonali Bank, Chattogram Customs House branch, said the bank's operation depended on the document processing of the Customs House. "If the Customs House is open, activities of the bank will continue."
