A Chinese ship carrying raw materials of apparel industry has arrived at the Chittagong Sea Port on Tuesday from China. This is the first shipping from China to Bangladesh after the coronavirus outbreak.

A vessel named Cape Orient was docked into the Jetty number 9 with 1,100 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containers loaded with various raw materials of apparel including clothes, capital machineries, and chemical products.

Leaving from Shanghai, the ship arrived at the outer anchorage of Chittagong Sea Port on February 29.

A special team of health ministry inspected the ship and examined the crews if they had symptoms of coronavirus infection.

Later, the ship entered at the main Jetty on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the port sources, Hyundai Merchant Marine Company is the shipping agent of this 185-metre lengthy vessel which also has an 8.35 metres draft.

The crews underwent health checkups because of the coronavirus outbreak in China, said Motahar Hossain, acting health official at the port.

Later, they were permitted to enter into the main Jetty, he added.
