Trustee to hold unitholders' meeting on SEML Lecture Equity Fund maturity
Fund’s current tenure to mature on 25 Dec

Bangladesh General Insurance Company (BGIC), the trustee of SEML Lecture Equity Management Fund, a listed mutual fund, has called a unitholders' meeting upon the fund's maturity, according to a disclosure published on the stock exchange's website today (18 September).
The meeting has been scheduled for 30 October at RAOWA Convention Hall to discuss and vote on the option of conversion (Yes/No) of the fund on maturity to an open-end fund.
SEML Lecture Equity Management Fund's current tenure is due to mature on 25 December 2025.
In line with the arranging meeting, trade suspension of the fund scheduled on 22 October, which shall also be the record date to get the fund's unit-holders list for eligibility of unit holders to attend the meeting.
Today, the unit price of SEML Lecture Equity Management Fund declined by 1.35% to Tk7.30 on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).
According to the website of fund's asset manager Strategic Equity Management Limited, Lecture Publication Limited is the sponsor of the fund and initial fund size is Tk50 crore.
According to its statement, the fund earned Tk3.02 crore as income in 2024-25 fiscal year and after minusing expenses profit stood at Tk2.14 crore with an earnings per unit (EPU) of Tk0.43.
The fund declared no dividend for its unitholders' for FY25.
In FY24, it incurred a loss of Tk3.49 crore with loss per unit of Tk0.70, and its retained earnings became negative at Tk1.31 crore at the end of FY25, its report showed.
On the cost price, its investment in the listed securities as on 30 June 2025 stood at Tk32.15 crore but market value of its investment is Tk22.43 crore, according to its portfolio available on its website.
Meanwhile, the trustee of Vanguard AML BD Finance Mutual Fund One also called unitholders meeting on 29 October as the current tenure of the fund is due to mature on 23 December 2025 to discuss and vote on the option of conversion of fund to an open-end fund.
