Rehana Kashem to offload 16 lakh shares of Southeast Bank

Rehana Kashem, a sponsor of Southeast Bank PLC, has expressed her intention to sell 15.96 lakh shares of the bank in the public market through the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).
According to a disclosure on Wednesday, she plans to sell the shares out of her total holding of 63.24 lakh shares at the prevailing market price by 30 October.
Today, Southeast Bank's shares closed at Tk9.50 each. So, calculating with the shares, the value of said shares to be sold is Tk1.52 crore, as per DSE information.
Rehana Kashem, previously in the last year, had sold 7 lakh shares of the bank at prevailing market price in the public and block market from her total holding of 70.24 lakh.
Southeast Bank, in 2024, witnessed a significant decline in its profit due to increasing provision for loans and advances over the previous year.
In 2024, it had reported a consolidated earnings per share (EPS) of Tk0.32, which was Tk1.60 in 2023.
The bank did not recommend any dividends for its shareholders for 2024.
In the first half during January to June of 2025, the bank reported a consolidated 10% growth in its EPS to Tk1, up from Tk0.91 in the same time of 2024.
In the second quarter during April to June, it had reported a 168% growth in its consolidated EPS to Tk0.59, which was Tk0.22 in the same time of 2024, according to its financial statement.
