Dr Mohammad Asifur Rahman, a technology expert with vast experience in both domestic and international corporate organisations, has officially joined the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) as its chief technology officer (CTO).

The premier bourse of the country issued a press release in this regard today (2 July).

With a distinguished career in information technology across multiple countries, Asifur served as the CTO of Asha International Group PLC from 2016 to 2023.

Prior to that, he was head of Overseas Operations at Smart Service Technologies Co Ltd in Fukuoka, Japan (2012–2016), where he built partnerships with eight companies and universities in Australia, Indonesia, Nigeria, Myanmar, and Bangladesh, read the release.

From 2009 to 2012, he worked as a research fellow at the System LSI Research Center at Kyushu University in Japan.

Asifur also held key roles at various institutions, including director of IT at Asha and Asha International, associate professor at the University of Asia Pacific, and manager of the Dhaka office of Angelnet Technologies Inc (USA).

Additionally, he has worked with the World Bank's ETAC Data Computerization Project and served as a computer consultant for the FAO Andre Mayer Fellowship Project.

Asifur holds a BSc in Computer Science and Engineering from the first graduating batch of BUET (1994) and a Doctor of Engineering from Kyushu University in Japan. He is a lifetime member of BUET Graduate Club Ltd and the BUET Alumni Association.

He brings with him deep expertise in blockchain, AI and machine learning applications in financial markets, high-performance computing architecture, and scalable systems for financial modelling, the release added.
