BSEC commissioner tells students to invest wisely

Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Commissioner, Abdul Halim, suggested that students invest carefully after weighing the risks.

"Money does not grow on trees. It accumulates only if you make savings and invest wisely," he said during a webinar on Thursday on student savings and investment awareness, observing World Investor Week.

The Commissioner to the securities regulator urged students to tailor their future plans according to risk and return calculations.

BSEC Commissioner Abdul Halim suggested that students should spend according to their incomes. He said that risk and investment are intertwined. Higher investment also means higher risk. At the same time, the chances of getting a handsome return on your investment are that much higher.

Abdul Halim thanked the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) and others for arranging the webinar and concluded his remarks. The event was also attended by BSEC officials and CSE trek representatives.

Chattogram University Prof, Dr Mohammad Saleh Jahur, presented the keynote paper at the webinar. CSE Managing Director, Mamun-Ur-Rashid, gave welcome remarks, while the CSE Chairman, Asif Ibrahim joined the virtual event as the special guest.

Asif Ibrahim said it does not matter how much money you have, what matters is to educate yourself about your opportunities.

"No one can guarantee that you will make money from your investment. But if you get the right information about savings and investments, and follow through with an intelligent plan, you can acquire financial security in a few years," he noted.
