Southeast Bank sponsor Rehana Kashem to sell 10 lakh shares
Southeast Bank’s share price rose 0.94% to close at Tk10.70 on the DSE today.
Rehana Kashem, a sponsor of Southeast Bank PLC and wife of the bank's Chairman MA Kashem, has announced plans to sell 10 lakh shares of the bank through the public market.
According to a disclosure filed with the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) today (26 July), Rehana Kashem will sell the shares from her total holding of 21.43 lakh shares at the prevailing market price within the next 30 working days.
Following the announcement, Southeast Bank's share price rose 0.94% to close at Tk10.70 on the DSE today.
This is the second time this month that Rehana Kashem has announced plans to sell the same number of shares. She made a similar declaration on 6 July, but the transaction was not executed.
DSE records show that she has been gradually reducing her stake in the bank, selling around 38.8 lakh shares through the trading platform between October 2024 and June 2026.
Meanwhile, Southeast Bank reported a significant improvement in its financial performance in the first half of 2026.
The bank's consolidated earnings per share (EPS) rose 64% year-on-year to Tk1.64 in January-June, up from Tk1.00 in the same period a year earlier, according to its latest unaudited financial statements.
The bank attributed the increase in earnings to higher investment income and lower required provisioning against loans and advances.
Its consolidated net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) also rose sharply to Tk39.39 in the first six months of 2026, compared with Tk2.39 in the same period last year.
The improvement in cash flow was driven by higher deposits and increased borrowings from other banks and customers, the bank said.
As of 30 June 2026, Southeast Bank's consolidated net asset value (NAV) per share stood at Tk27.16.
