Star Network, AFTEX sign landmark MoU at Asian Dialogue Conference in Cambodia

In a major development at the Asian Dialogue Conference 2025 in Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh, Star Network and AFTEX have signed a landmark memorandum of understanding (MoU).
This strategic collaboration is set to revolutionize the apparel sector within the Asian region, fostering enhanced cooperation and sustainable growth among key players in the industry, reads a press release.
The MoU was formally signed by Fazlee Shamim Ehsan, founder board member of Star Network and Albert Tan, chairman of AFTEX, on behalf of their respective organisations.
This partnership is expected to catalyse significant advancements in the regional textile sector, aligning with global sustainability goals and enhancing the competitive edge of Asian apparel manufacturers on the international stage.
The MoU aims to address critical issues such as unfair purchasing conditions, decarbonisation, and the implementation of sustainable trade initiatives, thereby improving the overall dynamics of apparel sourcing and manufacturing in Asia.
Star Network, comprising of Sustainable Textiles of the Asian Region member countries, namely Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Myanmar, Pakistan, and Vietnam, has joined forces with AFTEX, the federation of organisations dedicated to promoting the textile and apparel industry across ASEAN countries.
The economic impact of this collaboration is anticipated to be substantial. By streamlining operations and adopting sustainable practices, member countries could see a reduction in costs related to energy consumption and waste management, said the release.
