Polish fashion giant LPP keen to scale up sourcing from Bangladesh
"We want to further strengthen our business foundation here and are committed to maintaining stability in the supply chain," said Joanna Sikorska, procurement director of LPP
LPP SA, a leading Polish apparel brand, has expressed keen interest in significantly increasing its garment sourcing from Bangladesh.
The intent was conveyed by Joanna Sikorska, procurement director of LPP, during a meeting with Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Mahmud Hassan Khan in Dhaka's Uttara today (2 December).
According to a press release issued by the BGMEA, the Polish fashion giant is particularly keen to work closely with Bangladesh to increase the sourcing of products such as outerwear, heavy knits, men's underwear, and joggers.
LPP currently procures nearly $770 million worth of garments from Bangladesh annually and considers the country its largest sourcing hub.
During the meeting, Sikorska reaffirmed the company's commitment to the Bangladesh market.
"Bangladesh is an extremely important sourcing hub for us. We want to further strengthen our business foundation here and are committed to maintaining stability in the supply chain."
She also reiterated LPP's dedication to ensuring sustainable development and responsible business practices within the country's garment industry.
BGMEA President Mahmud welcomed the announcement, emphasising the mutual benefits of a stronger partnership. "LPP is an important buyer for Bangladesh's garment industry. Increasing sourcing and long-term partnership with suppliers will be beneficial for both parties."
The discussions focused heavily on enhancing long-term partnerships, supply chain stability, transparency, and improving the capabilities of Bangladesh's garment sector. Crucially, the parties also discussed expanding direct export opportunities for small and medium-sized factories by bringing them under the purview of the RMG Sustainability Council.
Both LPP and the BGMEA stressed the importance of strengthening the strategic, long-term relationship with Bangladeshi suppliers.
