Mosharraf Hossain joins IDRA as chairman

M Mosharraf Hossain on Saturday joined the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) as its chairman.

He had been serving as the acting chairman of the same department since August 26 this year.

The Financial Institutions Department of the Ministry of Finance on Sunday issued a notification regarding the contractual appointment.

Prior to this, Mosharraf was appointed as a member of IDRA on April 4, 2018 as per the notification of Financial Institutions Department.

In his 26-year career, he worked as chief executive officer of several life insurance companies, head of operations at an insurance company, managing director of a merchant bank, as well as vice president of the Merchant Bankers Association.

He has also been the chairman of the Board Audit Committee of several insurance and financial institutions.

Mosharraf Hossain secured first class first position in M Com (accounting) and first class third in his B Com. He holds a PhD in Insurance from Dhaka University and an MBA on Risk and Insurance from USTC and a Diploma from Bangladesh Insurance Academy. He is a chartered accountant and has authored eight books on insurance.
