Investment Summit: 4 funds announced for entrepreneurs

Four funds have been announced to ensure funding for young people's business ideas under the initiative of the Bangladesh Bank, the government, JICA and Incepta.
Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, executive chairman of Bida, and Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, special assistant to the chief adviser announced the development after the "Startup Connect" session of the ongoing Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025 at the Hotel InterContinental Dhaka.
They mentioned that the Bangladesh Bank will soon open two funds worth Tk800 crore and Tk400 crore for entrepreneurs.
The government of Bangladesh and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) are jointly establishing a fund.
In addition, local pharmaceutical company Incepta has announced the formation of a fund worth $1 million.
Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb stated that the government will ensure uninterrupted internet supply for the progress of startup businesses.
"Measures are also being taken so that no one can shut down the internet in future," he said, adding that the Bangladesh Telecommunication Act will be amended.
He also said the internet will be recognised as a fundamental right, along with various other initiatives.
Also at the briefing, Bida chief Ashik mentioned that on the first day of the Investment Summit, 1,500 entrepreneurs from both home and abroad participated.
He also stated that efforts will be made to create a startup-friendly environment by solving the problems presented by the entrepreneurs.
