Beximco Industrial Park declares temporary holiday due to salary delays

Beximco Industrial Park has declared a temporary holiday from Saturday (14 December) to Thursday (19 December), to prevent any potential incidents following delays in the payment of November salaries to factory workers.

The factories will be reopened on Thursday after the salaries are paid, confirmed Superintendent Gazipur Industrial Police-2 Mizanur Rahman.

He said, "Several factories operate within Beximco Industrial Park, including garment factories. The workers of these garment factories are yet to receive their November salaries, and are causing unrest. Discussions with the management suggest that salaries will likely be paid by Thursday. To prevent any untoward incidents during this period, workers have been granted temporary leave until Thursday."

He added, "Some sections of the factories are still operational, while others remain closed. The overall environment within the industrial park is normal."

It has been reported that workers of Beximco Industrial Park, located in Sarabo under Kashimpur police station in Gazipur, were due to receive their November salaries on 12 December.

However, while senior officials of the industrial park received their payments on that day, the general workers' salaries remained unpaid, leading to discontent among the workers.

Md Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kashimpur police station, said, "Workers at Beximco Industrial Park have so far remained patience and maintained a peaceful environment. It is expected that they will continue to cooperate with the management until the issue is resolved."
