11 BSCIC factories producing puffed rice, flattened rice ahead of Ramadan
The market value of the products is Tk4.92 lakh, and they are supplied all over the country
A total of 11 factories of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) industrial estates in Mymensingh and Naogaon are producing essentials, including muri (puffed rice) and chira (flattened rice) on the occasion of the upcoming Ramadan.
According to the BSCIC, presently, the 11 organisations are producing more than 90 tonnes of puffed rice and flattened rice daily.
The market value of the products is Tk4.92 lakh.

The products are supplied all over the country, including greater Mymensingh and northern region, said a press release.
Officer of Mymensingh BSCIC Md Manjurul Islam said, "There are 72 industrial organisations here. Maintaining hygiene, 27 factories are operating, considering the demand for essentials for the upcoming Ramadan amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Of them, seven are producing 86 tonnes of puffed rice and flattened rice daily. Besides, medicine, biscuit, cake, bread, mustard oil etc. are being produced in Mymensingh BSCIC."
On the other hand, there are 53 industrial organisations in Naogaon BSCIC. Of them, 29 remain open amid the coronavirus situation.
Among the 29, four are producing 4.5 tonnes of puffed rice and flattened rice daily. Besides, rice, lentil, mustard oil, biscuit, cake, bread, veterinary medicine and food, tube well head etc. are produced there.
Naogaon BSCIC Officer Md Anwarul Azim said they are monitoring whether hygiene is maintained in the factories that are still open.
"The factory owners are provided with all the support they need to keep production running. A total of 1,702 people are employed in the factories here," he added.
