World pharmacist day observed at AIUB with rally and seminar
The Department of Pharmacy at American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB) organised a day-long programme on Thursday to celebrate World Pharmacist Day 2025, with the active participation of students, academic staff, industry leaders, and distinguished guests.
The event began with the distribution of T-shirts and a colourful rally, highlighting the vital role of pharmacists in ensuring better healthcare for the community. Among those present were AIUB Trustee Board Founder Member Ishtiaque Abedin, Trustee Board Member Dr Carmen Z Lamagna, and Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Abdur Rahman, along with senior academic staff and students.
In the second session, Professor Rahman delivered the welcome address. The keynote session featured leaders from the pharmaceutical industry, who shared insights on the evolving role of pharmacists in healthcare. Speakers included Md Hasanuzzaman (Roche Bangladesh Ltd), Mohammad Reazur Rahman (Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd), S M Foysal Habib (Beacon Pharmaceuticals Plc), and Professor Dr Abu Syed Md Mosaddek (Uttara Adhunik Medical College/Quest Bangladesh Biomedical Research Centre).

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Professor Dr Md Siddiqul Islam, Head of AIUB's Department of Pharmacy, followed by refreshments. During the programme, AIUB Trustee Board Vice-Chairman Dr Hasanul A Hasan met guests and shared his reflections.
The celebration showcased the Department of Pharmacy's commitment to nurturing future pharmacists and fostering collaboration between academia and industry to advance sustainable healthcare development.
