Walton named ‘Best Enterprise of the Year’ at business awards
Bangladeshi Superbrand and tech giant Walton has been honoured with the Best Enterprise of the Year title at the 23rd DHL–The Daily Star Bangladesh Business Awards.
Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC received the award for the second time, in recognition of its role in transforming Bangladesh's electronics industry—from dependence on imports to global competitiveness. The company first won the accolade in 2014.
Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed handed over the award to Walton Hi-Tech's Managing Director S M Mahbubul Alam at a gala event held at Radisson Blu Water Garden in Dhaka on 23 September. Commerce Adviser SK Bashir Uddin attended as special guest.
DHL Express Bangladesh Managing Director Md Miarul Haque and The Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam represented the organisers.
In his remarks, S M Mahbubul Alam credited customers, investors and well-wishers for Walton's success, adding: "We are moving ahead with the vision of making Walton a global brand and positioning Bangladesh as a hub for advanced, innovative and environment-friendly smart electronics."
Walton currently exports "Made in Bangladesh" products—including AI- and IoT-based refrigerators and air conditioners—to more than 50 countries.
Since 2000, the Bangladesh Business Awards have recognised visionary individuals and organisations shaping the nation's economy. This year, three individuals and two organisations were honoured across five categories.
