VBD Chattogram brings eid joy to 150 underprivileged children
Underprivileged children—some growing up on the streets, some living around railway stations, and others staying in government and private shelter homes—often experience Eid like any other ordinary day.
To bring joy to these children, Volunteers for Bangladesh (VBD), Chattogram District, distributed new clothes and food.
As part of this effort, the organisation arranged the 14th edition of "Keep This Magic Alive" on Sunday at Arbi Convention Hall in Chattogram, bringing together 150 underprivileged children.
The programme began with indoor games, allowing the children to spend time with the volunteers in a festive environment.
Later, the volunteers shared iftar with the children. To mark Eid, the children were given new clothes, while their families received dry food packages.
The event was attended by 170 volunteers. Ragsaysay Award 2023 laureate and JAAGO Foundation founder Korvi Rakshand joined as chief guest. Umme Maisun attended as special guest.
Members of the VBD national board, alumni of VBD Chattogram District, and members of the division board were also present.
The programme was presided over by Asifur Rahman, vice-president of VBD Chattogram District. Joynal Abedin served as event leader, while Sayma Muntazin was co-leader. District board members including Jobayed Hosen, Tahiyat Chowdhury, Syed Anwar Toki and Ahsanul Haque Jisan were also present.
