Unilever Bangladesh appoints Abdullah Zobayer as head of legal
Unilever Bangladesh Limited (UBL) has appointed Abdullah Zobayer as Head of Legal, Bangladesh and Home Care General Counsel, Bangladesh, effective from 1 August.
Zobayer has also joined the Management Committee of Unilever Bangladesh and will lead the company's legal function, providing strategic counsel on key business, governance and regulatory matters, according to a press release.
He joined Unilever Bangladesh as Senior Legal Counsel in August 2021.
Zobayer brings more than 16 years of legal experience spanning the fast-moving consumer goods and telecommunications sectors and private legal practice.
He is a Barrister-at-Law from Lincoln's Inn and an advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.
During his tenure at Unilever Bangladesh, Zobayer has led significant litigation, arbitration and dispute-resolution matters, while helping the company navigate a complex regulatory environment.
He has also contributed to regulatory advocacy and industry engagement on matters including extended producer responsibility, product standards and compliance with labour laws.
Zobayer has helped advance the legal function's digitalisation and process-simplification initiatives, improving productivity and service delivery.
He has also served as acting company secretary, supporting the company in fulfilling its corporate governance and statutory responsibilities.
"Zobayer combines deep legal expertise with a clear understanding of our business and the environment in which we operate," said Unilever Bangladesh Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Ruhul Quddus Khan.
"He has played an important role in helping Unilever Bangladesh navigate complex legal and regulatory matters while strengthening governance across the business.
"His perspective will be valuable to the Management Committee as we continue to grow responsibly and make decisions that support the company's long-term interests," he added.
