UCBD welcomes second batch of ULan degree students

Universal College Bangladesh (UCBD) hosted an orientation programme for the second batch of students enrolled in international business and information technology degree programmes offered by the University of Lancashire (ULan). The event was held at UCBD's Gulshan campus on 28 September, welcoming freshers and their parents while providing an overview of university life and the UK degrees offered in Dhaka.
As the exclusive partner of ULan, UCBD is the first higher education institution in Bangladesh to receive Ministry of Education approval to offer full degrees from international universities. Students can complete their full three-year honours degrees in Dhaka or transfer to the UK after the first year.
The programme began with opening remarks from Professor Muhammad Ismail Hossain, Dean of Academic Affairs, and Professor Hew Gill, President & Provost of UCBD. Addressing the students, Professor Hew Gill said: "This is an excellent opportunity for all local students to learn from our internationally acclaimed faculty members. All degrees offered here are exactly the same as those in the UK, following the same curriculum. In three years' time, I look forward to presenting every student with a University of Lancashire degree."
Ambreen Zaman, IT Programme Coordinator, highlighted UCBD's holistic approach, noting that "university isn't just about academics; it's about developing the whole person. This orientation introduces students and parents to the many resources available to help them thrive in both studies and life."
A special Parents' Orientation session, conducted by Professor Hew Gill and Ms Samia Salam, Parent Engagement and Event Coordinator, emphasised how ULan degrees open pathways to successful careers and postgraduate study. Students also attended programme-specific sessions, met UK faculty teaching the degrees in Bangladesh, and learned about academic policies, student support services, and campus life.
The orientation included opportunities for networking among students, parents, faculty, and support staff, reinforcing UCBD's mission to build a well-informed and engaged academic community.
UCBD continues to provide Bangladeshi students the chance to earn a full UK university degree from Dhaka. Further information on ULan programmes and admissions is available on the UCBD website.
