UCBD introduces UCLan’s cybersecurity program to Bangladesh
Universal College Bangladesh (UCBD) held an orientation program on 13 January 2025 for the inaugural students of the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) Cybersecurity degree, alongside the second batch of Business & Marketing degree students, at their Gulshan campus. UCBD is the exclusive partner of UCLan in Bangladesh and the first institution in the country to offer Ministry of Education-approved international university degrees.
The orientation featured opening remarks by Professor Hew Gill, President & Provost of UCBD, and Professor Muhammad Ismail Hossain, Dean of Academic Affairs. UCBD Programme Coordinators, Ambreen Zaman for Cybersecurity and Abhishek Chakravarty for Business & Marketing, detailed the degree content and study opportunities in the UK.
Shabaz Ali Mahmood, Lecturer in Digital Marketing at UCLan, praised the program as an excellent opportunity for Bangladeshi students to gain world-class knowledge and secure competitive job opportunities.
A special session for parents, led by Prof. Hew and Samia Salam, Parent Engagement Executive, explained UCLan's innovative degree structure, focusing on practical skills and continuous assessment. Prof. Hew emphasised that students will receive the same degree certificate whether they study in Bangladesh or the UK.
UCLan, ranked in the top 7% globally, is one of the largest UK universities, with a diverse student body and extensive international partnerships. Admissions for the new UCLan programs continue throughout January, and students from various educational backgrounds can apply.
