Thailand Week 2025 to boost trade, business ties with Bangladesh

As Asia moves towards deeper regional integration, Thailand and Bangladesh are actively exploring ways to strengthen economic cooperation and unlock mutual opportunities across trade, investment, connectivity and sustainable development.
To foster bilateral trade and promote business opportunities involving Thai products, Thailand Week 2025 is set to begin in Dhaka this week. In this regard, a press conference and high-level panel discussion were held today at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel with participation from business leaders and officials of both countries.
At the event, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Thai Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Bangladesh-Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry to enhance collaboration and boost bilateral business ties.
While trade between the two countries has seen steady growth over the past decade, speakers at the event noted there remains significant untapped potential.

During the panel discussion, Tanvir Ahmed, Managing Director of Sheltech Group, Envoy Legacy, Envoy Textiles, Green Textile and Director of the Bangladesh-Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, highlighted the increasing importance of private sector engagement.
"Bangladesh and Thailand must engage beyond policy-level discussions. It's time for businesses from both sides to lead the partnership—with joint ventures, knowledge exchange and shared infrastructure," he said.
He added, "Thai investors will find in Bangladesh a young, skilled workforce and a growing consumer base. Likewise, Bangladeshi enterprises can benefit from Thailand's advanced technology and logistics."
His remarks were well received by Thai and Bangladeshi delegates alike, sparking renewed interest in forming sector-specific business councils to advance bilateral cooperation.
The event was chaired by Shams Mahmud, President of the Bangladesh-Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and jointly organised by the Bangladesh-Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Thai Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Thai Embassy in Dhaka, and the Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, Thailand.
