SQUARE launches nationwide mobile healthcare service

SQUARE Group is set to launch "Chhappanno Hazar Square Mile Jure", a nationwide mobile healthcare initiative commemorating the birth centenary of its founder, Samson H. Chowdhury. The official ceremony will be held tomorrow, September 25, on his 100th birth anniversary at St Mary's Cathedral, Kakrail, Dhaka.
The initiative will be inaugurated by Samson H. Chowdhury's children - Samuel S Chowdhury, chairman; Ratna Patra, vice chairman; Tapan Chowdhury, managing director; and Anjan Chowdhury, director of SQUARE Group.
The programme is dedicated to providing essential healthcare services across all 56,000 square miles of Bangladesh, focusing on underserved communities through mobile clinics and telemedicine. Services will include lifestyle promotion, primary healthcare for the elderly, maternal and childcare, basic diagnostics, treatment, and free medicines for common illnesses.
"This initiative reflects our commitment to building a healthier nation by caring for the most vulnerable communities," said Tapan Chowdhury, managing director of SQUARE Pharmaceuticals PLC. "Healthcare is a basic right, not a privilege. Through SQUARE Mobile Healthcare, we aim to bridge the gap in medical access by bringing doctors, medicines, and diagnostic services directly to people's doorsteps."
He added that the mobile healthcare service would collaborate with local health authorities and community leaders to ensure effective delivery and long-term sustainability. The initiative is entirely voluntary and non-profit.
The announcement was made today at a press briefing at the Samson Centre in the capital, where senior officials of SQUARE were present.
