SheSTEM hosts National Textile Science Competition 2025 at BTEC

The "SheSTEM presents: National Textile Science Competition 2025" was held at Barishal Textile Engineering College (BTEC), organised by the Science and Research Club BTEC. The day-long event provided a platform for students to showcase their research, innovation, and practical skills in textile science.
Distinguished guests included Paritosh Das, Director of Dongyi Sourcing Limited; Enamul Kabir, Managing Director of ENSA Clothing Ltd.; Engr. Ariful Islam, Country Manager of AM TEX, Suzhou Yingxing Textile Co. Ltd.; Engr. Afsana Mim, Chairman of AIFT; Engr. Sayed Tanvir Islam, Manager R&D at Naz Bangladesh Ltd.; Tushar Kumar Pal, CEO of Cods Co. Ltd.; Nazmul Hasan, Managing Director of Fabric Lagbe; and S M Hasibullah, DGM (Fabric and Garment QA) at Rich Cotton Limited.
Industry leaders from across the country attended, while academic and professional experts served as judges across the competition segments.
In the article writing competition, first place went to Taufiq Kabir of Barishal Textile Engineering College, second place to Hafiza Akter Aditi of Barishal Textile Engineering College, and third place to Ibrahim Khali of Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University. Judges for this segment included Md Zakaria Alam Jiji, former Fabric Technologist at Next, Lidl, Li & Fun, and Kenpaek; Engr Md Enamul Haque Niyam, Assistant Professor at Southeast University; and Farhad Mahmud Chowdhury, Assistant Professor in the Department of Yarn Engineering at BUTex.
In the innovation video competition, Amanullah of Barishal Textile Engineering College secured first place, Team ECO of Pabna Textile Engineering College came second, and Team Shield of Barishal Textile Engineering College finished third. Judges included Sayed Iqbal Rizvi, Managing Director of Sameet Dye Chem Ltd.; Md Dulal Hossain, Lecturer at Green University of Bangladesh; and Md Salauddin, Advisor for Textile and Garments Merchandising and Head of Operations at Bunon Bangladesh.
Winners received certificates, T-shirts, exclusive gifts, lab and online courses, with total prizes worth Tk34,000. Additionally, ten students from Barishal Textile Engineering College were offered industry internships and other opportunities.
According to organisers, the competition aims to foster creativity, research, and innovation among students, while opening new opportunities for Bangladesh's textile sector.
