Shanta Pinnacle handover marks completion of Bangladesh’s first 40-storey skyscraper
Shanta Holdings has handed over Pinnacle, marking a new benchmark for commercial high-rise development in Dhaka.
The handover ceremony, held on 18 April, marked a significant milestone in the country's real estate sector. Located in Tejgaon, the tower rises 500 feet above the city and, according to the company, is the first completed 40-storey skyscraper in Bangladesh, reflecting a shift in scale and construction capability in the country.
The ceremony, held on the 40th floor of the tower, was attended by senior officials of Shanta, including Managing Director Khondoker Monir Uddin, landowners, clients and architect Ehsan Khan.
The event celebrated not only the completion of Pinnacle, but also reaffirmed Shanta's commitment to delivering world-class commercial spaces in Bangladesh.
At its core, Pinnacle represents a new standard for sustainable development in the country. The development is LEED Platinum-certified, placing it within the highest tier of environmentally responsible buildings globally and aligning it with international standards of performance.
The building has been designed with safety integrated at every level. It is fully compliant with the latest NFPA fire safety standards and equipped with advanced fire detection and protection systems.
Its structural design, prepared by Meinhardt Singapore, incorporates the latest regional guidelines for earthquake resilience.
The building also introduces several firsts. A record-breaking seven-day slab cycle using aluminium formwork helped accelerate construction, which the company said enabled the fastest civil construction in the industry.
A 6.8 COP centrifugal chiller using refrigerant with zero ozone-depleting potential has been installed to improve energy efficiency while reducing environmental impact.
MERV 13 systems have also been incorporated to improve indoor air quality and enhance occupant health and comfort.
According to the company, Pinnacle is also the first wind tunnel-tested building in the country, designed to enhance structural stability.
Its façade comprises 36 mm-thick unitised glazing, while eight lifts operating at 4 metres per second offer what the company says is the fastest vertical mobility in the country.
In addition, the entire building is operated through a fully integrated Building Management System (iBMS), allowing operational intelligence and live monitoring of all assets.
Shanta said the completion of Pinnacle reflects its commitment to innovation, quality and precision in delivering world-class commercial spaces.
With a strong pipeline of upcoming commercial projects, the company said it aims to reshape not only Tejgaon but also the wider city skyline, redefining how people experience state-of-the-art and compliant work environments in Dhaka.
