SEU explores academic partnerships with Denmark and Switzerland
Southeast University (SEU) hosted delegations from the Embassies of Denmark and Switzerland in August 2025 to discuss academic and research collaboration.
On 21 August, SEU hosted Ole Rosenborg Justesen, Sector Counsellor, and Fahim Abrar, Associate Advisor for Sustainable Production, from the Embassy of Denmark. The discussions centred on Bangladesh's extensive data resources on agriculture, climate, environment, and labour, which Denmark views as valuable for research-driven policymaking and academic inquiry. Scholarship and funding opportunities in Denmark, including government grants and university-specific programmes for master's and PhD students, were also highlighted.
On 26 August, SEU hosted a Swiss delegation led by Alberto Giovanetti, Counselor and Head of Political, Economic, and Communication Affairs, and Khaled Chowdhury, Senior Political, Economic, and Press Officer. During their visit, the team discussed the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships for PhD and postdoctoral researchers. Emphasising the importance of cross-institutional collaboration and research-based learning, they also offered practical guidance on applications, eligibility, and thematic priorities.
Both visits were received by SEU Vice-Chancellor Professor Yusuf Mahbubul Islam, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Mofazzal Hossain, Registrar Major General Md Anwarul Islam (Retd.), deans, and directors.
Aiming to promote youth leadership, research, and community development, the meetings encouraged joint projects, internships, collaborative research, and capacity-building programs. As a result, deeper partnerships between SEU and European institutions are now being paved.
