Science and technology secretary pledges support for sustainable nuclear policy
A discussion meeting titled "Importance, prospects and strategies for promoting the peaceful use of nuclear energy and technology in the socio-economic development of Bangladesh" was held at the headquarters of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) on Wednesday (5 November 2025) at 3pm.
Md Anwar Hossain, secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, attended the meeting as the chief guest. Former chairmen and members of the BAEC also participated in the discussion.
Eminent nuclear scientists shared their insights on the potential and strategies for the peaceful application of nuclear energy and technology in the country's socio-economic development. They also offered guidance on the formulation of future national policies and strategies for nuclear research and technological advancement.

The meeting was attended by Dr Md Mojibur Rahman, current chairman of the BAEC, and Dr Debashish Pal, member (Physical Sciences).
Speaking on the occasion, Science and Technology Secretary Md Anwar Hossain assured full cooperation in expanding the use of nuclear technology for public welfare and in formulating a sustainable national nuclear policy and strategy.
In his remarks, BAEC Chairman Dr Md Mojibur Rahman expressed gratitude to the secretary, former chairmen, members and all participants for their active engagement and valuable guidance in shaping the future direction of nuclear technology for the country's socio-economic advancement.
