Presidency University celebrates winter with Pitha Festival
Presidency University is celebrating the winter season by hosting its annual Pitha Festival, titled "Pitha Festival–1432", on 22 and 23 January on its campus.
The festival has brought a festive atmosphere to the university, with students from seven departments setting up a row of stalls offering a wide variety of traditional pithas — seasonal delicacies deeply rooted in Bengali culture. Alongside the food stalls, the Presidency University Cultural Club has organised a programme featuring folk music and dance, celebrating the cultural heritage of Bengal.
The event was inaugurated at 11:00am by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Abdul Mannan Chowdhury. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Principal Adviser to the Board of Trustees Professor Dr Md Anwarul Kabir, along with deans, the registrar, controller of examinations, heads of departments, faculty members, staff and students.
University officials said the festival aims to foster community spirit by encouraging students and teachers to work together in preparing stalls, participating in performances and sharing traditional practices that strengthen bonds across the campus.
